Our Services

As a registered and responsible opticians, we operate under the guide lines of the GOC (the General Optical Council) As a patient with Abbey Eyewear you will receive a comprehensive eye examination. We will assess the health of your eyes and investigate how your lifestyle or occupation affects your visual requirements. With this information we can prescribe you with spectacles that are made to the high standards you would expect.

As well as a full eye exam, we also specialise in contact lens fitting. We provide a full contact lens service, including continuous supplies of contact lenses and solutions by Standing order if you wish to join our plans.
We also specialise in fitting contact lenses for children. Providing they meet the criteria for lens wear and can show the required level of responsibility, we see no reason why young children cannot also enjoy the freedom offered by contact lenses.

As well as the eye exam, we provide professional dispensing for your spectacles.
Our staff are very experienced at helping you choose the glasses that suit you
and your needs, taking precise measurements and fitting spectacles that not only    do they look great, but fit and work as they should do. Whether you want glasses for  just driving or reading, Bifocals or Varifocals ... Our staff make choosing your new spectacles as easy as possible.

As part of your eye exam we can also offer the DVLA standard - Binocular
Estermann fields test. This test is often required for some occupational positions
such as HGV driving, or working with the Police. It is also required if you need to have a retest for the DVLA.
This piece of equipment allows us to create a more in-depth assessment of your visual field, and can help diagnose many different diseases of the eye such as Macula degeneration and Diabetic Retinopathy.
As well as the Estermann fields test, we can also provide the Goldman contact       tonometry test which allows us to make a more accurate assessment of the                                                             pressure of the fluid within the eye. This can be done under request of the                                                   patient or specialist.
